Q1. I am a current HP GbE2 p-Class user, will I have to learn a new configuration interface?
A1. No, the HP GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch uses the same intuitive interface as the GbE2. Additionally, all GbE2 switches have a new "industry standard" CLI that greatly simplifies configuration and management.
Q2. What type of management options do I have?
A2. The GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch supports SNMP v1, v2 and v3 extensions as well as CLI, RMON, and Web-based Management tools including Secure HTTP (HTTPS).
Q3. What kind or redundancy or fail-over protection do I have?
A3. Since the GbE2 series of switches should always be installed in pairs, they utilize two internal cross-connects offering almost instantaneous fail-over protection in the case of a link failure.
Q4. How does the fiber option work on this switch?
A4. The GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch has 5 RJ-45 uplinks that are fully operational out of the box. There are 4 SFP cages that when populated, over-ride 4 of the 5 RJ-45 ports. Purchase the Fiber SFP module kit (PN440627-B21) separately to enable the fiber option.
Q5. Can I use any brand of Fiber SFP module?
A5. No. Only fiber SFP modules purchased though HP (PN440627-B21) will work with this switch. Each SFP module kit contains two SX Fiber SFPs. A maximum of two kits can be used per switch.
