The HP 1:10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch has three 10Gb uplinks. A built in CX4 connector allows you to connect via a copper cable for distances up to 15 meters. Use any of the below HP approved cables for these connections

There are also 2 Fiber XFP ports available. Each port will accept either a SR or LR XFP module depending on the distance required. XFP modules must be purchased through HP. Use the following part numbers when ordering

Can I use any brand of XFP module? |

No. Only XFP modules purchased though HP will work with this switch. Each XFP module kit contains a single XFP. |

Can I use the 1Gb ports and the 10Gb ports simultaneously? |

Yes, one of the benefits of this switch is to be able to use any combination of uplink ports. The RJ-45 uplinks will auto-negotiate to speeds of 10/100/1000Mb and may be used in conjunction with the 10Gb Fiber XFP and CX4 uplinks.

No. The switch will operate in interconnect Bays 1&2 without any additional NICs or Mezzanine cards. To add additional switches into any other interconnect-bay, use any of the currently available 1Gb Mezzanine cards such as the NC373m or the NC326m Dual Port Adapter. |

Yes. Provided that the same switch type (example: Ethernet) reside in the same redundant pair, you can mix switches in the same enclosure. However to take advantage of the 10Gb cross-connect feature, a 1:10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch must reside in both bays of the same redundant pair.
