| Q1. |
What is the Ethernet Pass-Thru Module? |
| A1. |
The Ethernet Pass-Thru Module is a sixteen port unmanaged data pass-through interconnection device that offers a one-to-one direct link between each BladeSystem server and a network device such as a switch. It is used when a data center already has an existing external network appliance to capture the individual uplinks from the blade servers. |

| Q2. |
Are cables included with the Ethernet Pass-Thru Module? |
| A2. |
No. Since each installation is different, cables are not included and must be purchased separately.

|
| Q3. |
Why does HP recommend that I purchase two Ethernet Pass-Thru Modules? |
| A3. |
While all Blade servers have a NIC providing a dedicated path to the first interconnect bay, supplying 16 non-blocking uplinks, HP recommends that a second Ethernet Pass-Thru Module be installed. Since each server has a minimum of two NICs on each blade, the addition of a second Ethernet Pass-Thru Module assures a redundant path to the network switch, router or bridge.

| Q4. |
Does the Ethernet Pass-Thru Module accept both fiber and copper connections? |
| A4. |
No. The Ethernet Pass-Thru Module has RJ45 copper uplinks only. If your network requires a fiber connection then you will need either a switch module or Virtual Connect Module with fiber optic uplinks.

| Q5. |
Can the uplink ports be set to operate at any speed other than 1Gb? |
| A5. |
No, The 1Gb Ethernet Pass-Thru module does not auto negotiate and will not accept commands to operate at any uplink speed other than 1Gb. |
