Simplify and make your data center change-ready. The Virtual Connect 8Gb 24-Port Fibre Channel Module is a new class of blade interconnect that simplifies server connections by cleanly separating the server enclosure from the SAN, simplifies networks by reducing cables without adding switches to manage, and allows you to change servers or move workloads in just minutes. With Virtual Connect, businesses can reduce costs and simplify connections to LANs and SANs, consolidate their network connections and enable administrators to add, replace and recover server resources on-the-fly.

The standards-based Virtual Connect 8Gb 24-Port Fibre Channel Module looks like a pass-thru device to the network, yet provides all the key benefits of integrated switching including high performance 8Gb uplinks to the SAN.  The integrated design frees up rack space, reduces power and cooling requirements, and reduces cables and small form-factor pluggables.

What's new

Introducing the HP Virtual Connect 8Gb 24-Port Fibre Channel Module for BladeSystem c-Class.  Now with next generation 8 Gbps technology that includes backward compatibility with 2Gb and 4Gb networks and a 4x overall increase in aggregate I/O bandwidth.

General
  • Pre-configure server I/O connections that automatically move with the server
  • Ability to move, add, or change servers on the fly
  • Once defined, LAN and SAN Administrators don't have to be involved in server changes

Ideal environment

Ideal for...

Enterprise and data center customers

  • Environments and applications such as Virtual Machines that require high bandwidth connections
  • Integrated Management and Security
  • Increased operational efficiencies with pre-defined virtual server profiles
  • Efficient server sparing by applying profiles to spares with a click of the mouse

Mid-sized data Centers

  • Designed with server administrators in mind to quickly bring up servers on the SAN and LAN
  • Scalable virtual domains supporting multiple data center enclosures

Remote sites

  • Apply server profiles remotely from a central location. No need to send specialists on site to bring up new servers or spares
  • Pre-design and configure an enclosure prior to installation
