GbE2 Interconnect Switch Module for the HP p-Class BladeSystem

Each HP BladeSystem p-Class enclosure requires an interconnect kit. The kit includes two interconnects that slide into the server blade enclosure and collect network and storage signals from the server blades. Several types of interconnects are available including interconnect switches and patch panels.

The ProLiant interconnect switches are designed to dramatically reduce the number of Ethernet network cables attached to the rear of the blade enclosure. The pair of interconnect Switches collect four network signals per server blade bay (32 network signals total) and concentrate them to one to twelve ports for connection to the network backbone. Interconnect switches from different server enclosures (either ProLiant BL e-Class and/or p-Class) may be linked together to even further reduce network cabling and to provide any desired level of oversubscription.

Introducing two ProLiant BL p-Class GbE2 interconnect switch kit options for the HP BladeSystem - now with enhanced layer 2 and layer 3 switching. Each provide different levels of Ethernet switching functionality and the ability to pass-through Fibre Channel signals. In general, customers should choose the appropriate interconnect switch option based on the following criteria:

• The ProLiant BL p-Class F-GbE2 Interconnect Kit includes two GbE2 Interconnect Switches and two QuadSX Interconnect Modules that provide eight (8) LC 1000 SX and four (4) RJ-45 10/100/1000 T/TX/T external ports per server blade enclosure.
• The ProLiant BL p-Class C-GbE2 Interconnect Kit includes two GbE2 Interconnect Switches and two QuadT2 Interconnect Modules that provide twelve (12) RJ-45 10/100/1000 T/TX/T external ports per server blade enclosure.
