You can't improve what you can't measure. Most customers do not have, or know they have, the ability to measure and track, and control power and cooling as a resource.

Imagine what you can do if you were able to determine where and how power is being used in the datacenter - HP can help you with that.

With built-in intelligence, accurate monitoring and control, HP Thermal Logic Technology helps customers monitor, track and limit power consumption, which is essential for ongoing energy optimization within the data center.

Bottom Line - Unlock trapped power and cooling resources, match supply with demand, and never use more power than you need. You have the ability to determine where and how energy is being used in the data center over time, all the time. Long live your datacenter.

Summary of latest test results

  • Dynamic Power Capping - Another HP first - combines real time measurement with worry free hardware based control to cap or limit enclosure power without compromising performance. Reclaim up to 220% of your datacenter without having to build a ew facility.
    • Fast: confidently protect circuit breakers with real-time control
    • Reliable: hardware is independent from CPU & OS, and will not 'hang'
    • Compatible: works with all operating systems
  • Dynamic power capping is is available through Insight Control suite - an integrated toolset designed to make managing your HP ProLiant and BladeSystem simple. ICE delivers superior power management with insight into real-time power and cooling consumption, which lets you optimize every aspect of your data center in real-time, over time. An abundance of data points is available at your fingertips via:
    • Insight Power Manager: Monitor and track power, thermals, and utilization over time. You can display up to 3 years of peak and average power consumption and server temperature data for ProLiant servers and BladeSystem enclosures.
  • HP BladeSystem C-class infrastructure provides the most accurate power measurement & reporting of server, fans, power supplies - of any major blade vendor, including:
    • Onboard Administrator provides more accurate measurement than Dell's Chassis Management Controller - which is up to 16% less accurate compared to the meter. HP Onboard Administrator is within 3% accuracy.
    • HP iLO 2 Advanced offers a point of control and information on server power information. With iLO 2 Advanced, you can measure and regulate your server's power usage, and with iLO 2's new Dynamic Power Capping capabilities, you can now cap your ProLiant's peak power consumption
    • Embedded Instrumentation - more complete data than the competition - including ambient air temperature, more temperature sensors than the competition, real time power draw.
