Insight Manager 7 SP2 now ships with version 2.0 of the Version Control Repository Manager and Version Control Agent. These new version control components offer the following enhancements:

• Simplified population of the Version Control Repository with ProLiant software and firmware updates.
• The Version Control Repository Manager automatically detects servers in your environment and downloads appropriate system software updates automatically from the HP website. Administrators may then choose which updates to deploy to their servers.
• The Version Control Repository Manager delivers a wizard-based upload of ProLiant Support Packs from the SmartStart CD, removing the need to search through complex directory structures to find the software you need.
• Log management capabilities ensure that deployment and configuration logs are maintained at a manageable size.
• Simple pre-configuration of software components.
• Software components settings can be configured through the Version Control Repository Manager prior to deployment, ensuring consistent software configurations across all managed servers.
• Integrated support for pre-configuration eliminates the need to use separate tools for configuration and deployment of ProLiant software components.
• Improved 'look and feel' for the Version Control Repository Manager 2.0 and Version Control Agent 2.0.
• Wizards for: component configuration, software download settings, system software baseline configuration.
• Enhanced UI based on ProLiant Essentials user interface guidelines delivers a consistent user experience across all management software.
• Newly available Version Control Agent for Linux extends Insight Manager 7's version control capabilities to ProLiant servers running Linux.
  

• Provides one-click access to comprehensive server health, configuration, and server inventory information displayed through the System Management Homepage.
• Version Control allows systems administrators to easily identify and update servers running out-of-date BIOS, drivers, and agents.

• Discovery filters provide granular control over the discovery process, allowing systems administrators to prevent Insight Manager 7 from discovering unwanted device types.
• Dell/IBM server management refresh: Provides enhanced management of Dell and IBM systems by through simple registration of SNMP MIBs (MIBs available on Management CD) and intelligent discovery and launch of Dell Server Administrator and the IBM Director agents.
• Provides enhanced management of HP Netservers, including the ability to create detailed inventory reports as well as launch Instant Toptools and the Toptools Remote Control Card.
