Overview

Introduction

ProLiant Essentials Recovery Server Option Pack is an entry-level high availability software that will provide reliable fault protection and increased uptime against hardware and operating system failures.

Software Option Kit – 1 License

Contains one license with a unique license activation key and product documentation. For use with a single RSO solution, see "Recovery Server Option Software License and Key" section below for details on components of RSO solution.

Flexible Quantity License Kit

The quantity ordered of this part number will be the quantity of licenses included in the kit along with a corresponding activation key. Use the same key to activate all licenses up to the actual quantity ordered. For a given order, one kit will be delivered with the licenses, activation key, and a single set of product documentation.

License-Only
For use with signed and implemented Master License Agreements only. Purchase of this part number entitles you to deploy another license of the product under the terms of your Master License Agreement. Standard Features

Standby Recovery Server	Recovery Server Option is a ProLiant Essentials software that allows active-standby configuration of two servers where one server acts as the primary or active server and the second server is the recovery server acting in a passive or pre-initialization mode. When a fatal fault is detected in either the hardware or operating system of the primary server, the recovery server will initialize and take over, making available the applications. Recovery Server Option provides a reliable entry level high-availability solution that is simple to install and configure at a low cost. Recovery Server Option is an ideal solution for applications that are not cluster aware, remote site deployments, unmanned operations or distributed environments.

Recovery Server Option Benefits	Maintains uptime as a result of fully automated server recovery, in the event of a server failure. Eliminates the requirement for intervention from the systems administrator to recover from a server failure, an excellent solution for unattended operation. Recovery Server Option Software License and Key	Each Recovery Server Option software license is valid for one Recovery Server Option solution that includes two identical ProLiant servers from ProLiant server models listed in the Compatible Product Section, and one HP StorageWorks Modular Smart Array 500 system. One Recovery Server Option license is required for each Modular Smart Array 500 system deployed.

Management Support	Insight Manager 7 monitors the Recovery Server Option. When the Recovery Server Option changes status, the Management Agents send an SNMP trap to Insight Manager. Recovery Server Option is supported by Management Agents version 5.40 or higher.

Solution Support	Recovery Server Option has been tested and validated for compatibility with Oracle9i on Microsoft Windows 2000 and Red Hat Linux. The tested and validated server options for Recovery Server Option and Oracle9i are the DL360G2 (requires two servers, Smart Array 532 controller and Modular Smart Array 500 system) and the DL380 G2 (requires two servers and Modular Smart Array 500 system) and the DL380 G2 Packaged Cluster.

Installation Support	Recovery Server Option is supported by SmartStart version 5.50 and higher.

System Requirements	Two identical and identically configured ProLiant servers from ProLiant server models listed in the Compatible Product Section; all hard drive storage is resident in one Modular Smart Array 500 system; each ProLiant server is attached to a Smart Array 5i, Smart Array 5i Plus or Smart Array 532 controller.
