HP NC150T PCI 4-port 1000T Gigabit Combo Switch Adapter |
The HP NC150T PCI 4-port 1000T Gigabit Combo Switch Adapter is a Gigabit Ethernet switch and PCI NIC integrated on a single card. The NC150T provides 4 switched ports so that the gigabit channel to the server is shared among 4 external devices such as personal computer clients, printers, and POS terminals, etc. It fits into a single PCI slot and offers customers a cost-effective network switch solution that is simple to set up and use. Additionally, it supports auto-negotiating 10/100/1000Mbps Ethernet speeds as well as 33 or 66MHz slots since it is based on 32-bit, 33/66 MHz PCI architecture. This PCI based combination switch adapter is priced affordably and comes with the complete suite of server software drivers for all major operating systems, teaming utilities and GUI that are expected from HP. It has been designed with server needs in mind and offers these features:

Performance
| Performance | |
| Gigabit Ethernet Throughput | Up to 1000Mbps Ethernet aggregate transfer rate delivers outstanding network performance at the same price as many 10/100 Fast Ethernet switches. Gigabit transmission rates improve network response time and remove bottlenecks. |
| Teaming |
The NC150T supports Network Fault Tolerance (NFT) and Transmit Load Balancing (TLB) teaming and can be configured to work with other NC-series Ethernet server adapters supported on HP ProLiant servers, when running under Microsoft Windows, Linux, or NetWare operating systems. If Large Send Offload (LSO) is disabled, the NC150T can team with all of HP NC-Series NICs without problems. If LSO is enabled, it can only team in Microsoft Operating Systems with another NC150T, a NC1020 and/or a NC7761. The NC150T does not support Switch Assisted Load Balancing (SLB) teaming with any operating system. |
| Network Fault Tolerance (NFT) | Network Fault Tolerance, sometimes called "failover", allows for the installation of multiple adapters so that the active NIC can be backed up by a redundant adapter to improve availability. HP's teaming utility also allows users to specify that when a failed adapter is fixed and replaced, the original adapter resumes its function as the primary network connection. |
| Transmit Load Balancing (TLB) | Transmit Load Balancing (TLB) also known as "port bonding" is an advanced feature used to build a bigger pipe for improved networking bandwidth. Port bonding techniques enable users to install multiple adapters in a HP ProLiant server. |
| Simple and Easy to Install | |
| Eliminates Multi-step Installation |
The HP NC150T eliminates the complexity of setting up and configuring
a traditional external switch because it eliminates 4 or 5 components
(NIC, external switch, cabling from NIC to switch, power cord with brick)
found in typical switch installations. Benefits include:
| Reliability | |
| Tri-Speed Support | Because the NC150T supports 10Mbps Ethernet and 100Mbps Fast Ethernet in addition to Gigabit Ethernet, users are guaranteed end-to-end protocol support. Like all HP server adapters, the NC150T Combo Switch Adapter adheres to open industry standards, insuring that it will work with network devices that also support IEEE standards. |
| Traditional PCI slot | The NC150T is specified to run in either 33 or 66MHz slots since it is a 32-bit, 33/66 MHz NIC. If customers want to place it into 64-bit, 66/100/133Mhz slots; then they can do so but its performance will be equivalent to 32/33 or 66Mhz performance capability. |
| PCI Hot Plug | The NC150T includes PCI Hot Plug support, which enables it to be replaced or added to a PCI Hot Plug compatible server without powering down the system. This feature provides increased system availability and non-stop serviceability in business-critical computing environments. |
| Operating System Support |
NOTE: For more Linux OS support & certification information, please visit our the ProLiant & BladeSystem Server Linux matrix: http://h18004.www1.hp.com/products/servers/linux/hpLinuxcert.html |
| |
| Network Management | |
| Auto-negotiation | The NC150T automatically senses and configures itself to the speed of the device to which it is attached. It also automatically configures for half or full duplex, depending on the mode at the other end of the cable. |
| Management Support | Like all HP server adapters, the NC150T ships with drivers and agents that can be managed from all versions of HP Insight Manger, and can use any management application that supports SNMP. |
| Server Integration | HP's SmartStart 7.10 configuration utility (and all subsequent versions) includes setup support for the NC150T so the adapter can be configured as part of the SmartStart configuration process. HP Insight Manager can recognize the NC150T individually or in port-bonded teams, and can collect and report SNMP statistics on the adapter events. Additionally, Integrated Management Log (IML) support is provided by the NC150T for critical event logging on HP servers. |
| Configuration Utilities | Each NC150T ships with a suite of OS-tailored configuration utilities that allow the user to run initial diagnostics and configure teams for Network Fault Tolerance (NFT) and Transmit Load Balancing (TLB) in the Windows®, Linux, or NetWare operating systems. |
