HP Insight integration module for Netcool/OMNIbus is a comprehensive solution that provides infrastructure management across a wide range of operating system platforms. This functionality enables you to manage HP server and storage hardware, in addition to other enterprise resources, from a common Netcool/OMNIbus environment. Supported operating platforms for host include HP-UX, Sun Solaris, Windows Server® 2000, Windows Server® 2003, Windows Server® 2008 and Linux. Supported operating platforms for managed systems include HP-UX, Sun Solaris, IBM AIX, Windows Server® 2000, Windows Server® 2003, Windows Server® 2008, Linux, HP Tru64 UNIX®, and HP OpenVMS.

The HP Insight integration module for Netcool/OMNIbus provides definitions for over 2550 individual notifications defined in its rules file and to correlate nearly 785 SNMP events. These definitions and rules integrate closely with the Netcool/OMNIbus application using the Mttrapd probe, enabling HP SNMP events and Fibre Channel Management SNMP events to be identified, processed, translated, and appear on the Event List.

HP Insight Integration module for Netcool/OMNIbus has been developed to integrate over 2550 HP ProLiant SNMP traps generated by HP Insight Management Agents and includes event translation and automated event correlation. The Mttrapd probe helps provide this capability.

Revision 5.0 of the Insight Integration for Netcool/Omnibus includes the following updates:

• Version 5.0 is the update to the "HP Insight Integration Module for Netcool/OMNIbus" version 4.0. This release provides the following updates to support HP Insight Management Agents up to version 8.60:
• Support for the following new events defined in MIB files in version 8.60:
  • Provided support for CPQRACK notifications for Rack Information mib.
  • Provided support for EVAPAMIB notifications for Modular Storage Array (MSA) cpqHSV Management Information Base.
  • Provided support for LEFT HAND NETWORKS notifications for storage nodes.

• Netcool/OMNIbus is a service level management (SLM) system that delivers real-time, centralized monitoring of complex networks and IT domains.
• This information can then be:

  • Logged in a database
  • Replicated on a remote Tivoli Netcool/OMNIbus system
  • Used to trigger automatic responses to certain events
• Netcool/OMNIbus minimizes deployment time and enables employees to use their existing network management skills.
• Netcool/OMNIbus tracks alert information in a high-performance, in-memory database, and presents information of interest to specific users through filters and views that can be configured individually.
• The Netcool/OMNIbus components work together to collect and manage network event information.
• Maximizes customer investments in HP systems hardware and the Netcool/OMNIbus Enterprise Management.
• Streamlines IT administration and increases systems availability.
• Provided support for LEFT HAND NETWORKS notifications for storage nodes.
