Yes, HP does support RHEL 3 on selected servers. However, as Red Hat's Lifecycle for RHEL 3 enters Phase 3 support, Phase 3 support from Red Hat provides no new functionality, no new hardware enablement or any updated installation images are planned for release in Production 3 life cycle phase. An envelope will be mailed to you separately or dropped in the server box. Inside the envelope is a RHEL registration card. There are step by step instructions and a registration number. You must register at the Red Hat Network and it is highly recommended to register as quickly as possible.

Customers can choose to download the RHEL operating system directly from the Red Hat web site and not receive a media kit from HP containing the software. The media kit contains the following and you must purchase a subscription separately from the media kit. Media kits are normally purchased when a customer cannot download all the OS information from the Red Hat Network.
Red Hat separated what was formerly known as ES and AS out into 2 purchasable media kits. HP only offers 1-2 Sockets (aka RHEL 4 ES).

Red Hat Network provides simple tools to efficiently manage the life cycle of systems on your network, including provisioning new systems, managing their updates and configuration changes, monitoring system performance, and eventually re-deploying the systems for a new purpose.

Software technical support (phone support) for RHEL will be bundled with the RHEL subscriptions. Customers have a choice of either 9x5 support or 24x7 support. Enhanced support levels will also be available including Support Plus, Support Plus 24, Proactive Essentials, Proactive 24 and Critical Service.

Customers that purchase Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems from HP should call HP for both OS and server support. For Linux OS support, customers should refer to the contact information provided on their HP support agreement. To expedite the support process, please be prepared to provide the Service Agreement Identifier (SAID) number which can be found on the HP support agreement (verifies support entitlement to RHEL). The HP support agreement is sent within 30 days of purchase of your RHEL subscription. If customers are unable locate their HP support agreement or require support before they have received it, they can obtain the local customer service numbers from the Contact HP Worldwide website.

What happens when my subscription is expiring? Does HP have a renewal process? |

Yes, Customers who have purchased Linux subscriptions and support directly from HP will automatically be notified 90-120 days prior to contract expiration to renew their services. Once the services have been renewed, the customer will be sent renewed entitlements to their Linux subscriptions and a letter confirming support has been renewed with instructions for obtaining support.
Customers who have purchased Linux subscriptions and support via an HP partner should be approached by their HP partner to renew subscriptions and support. However, If a customer would like to renew directly with HP, they may contact HP using contacts info provided below
