IMPORTANT NOTICE: HP is glad to announce that the new Service Essentials Remote Support Pack software components are now available when installing HP SIM 5.1. If you have already installed the Remote Support Pack as part of the HP SIM 5.1 installation and configured the Remote Support Software Manager, you will automatically be notified or receive the new components securely according to the option you selected.
These new Remote Support components combine the core hardware management value of HP SIM with new service and support tools to deliver improved warranty and contract management, automated support calls to HP, intelligent event analysis and advanced troubleshooting.
Customers managing HP-UX: Find out about Extensions for HP SIM which extends HP SIM for MS Windows to include links to server management tools for HP-UX and Linux for Integrity servers. Also, be sure to install the newest updates of HP BladeSystem Integrated Manager for HP SIM to correctly discover all your systems.

HP Systems Insight Manager (HP SIM) 5.1 with Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Windows provides the following enhancements over 5.1:
- Fixed a problem with the HP SIM 5.1 upgrade failing and potentially causing an operating system account to be locked out.
- Fixed problems with upgrades of HP SIM, HP ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack, and HP ProLiant Essentials Virtual Machine Management Pack when the service account is changed in the HP SIM installer.
- Fixed a problem with slow HP SIM startup when configured with an Oracle database with 10,000 or more HP SIM events.
- Fixed the Initial ProLiant Support Pack Install tool to fully honor the Reboot systems if necessary after successful install checkbox if it is unchecked.
- Fixed the Configure or Repair Agents tool to be able to update target systems of type unknown in HP SIM.
- Included the newer WMI Mapper version 2.3 with fixes to increase the reliability of WMI communications from HP SIM to resolve discovery issues related to failed WMI communications. This addresses some issues when managing VM's utilizing HP SIM and Virtual Machine Management Pack.
- Corrected a problem where events are repeatedly logged for some systems which are not licensed for Insight Power Manager.

Hot Fix Update Kit for HP SIM 5.1 - MS Windows |

This kit installs SIM hotfixes that were created since SIM 5.1 was released through October 2007. Hotfixes are bug fixes or performance enhancements that can be dropped into an existing SIM installation. They do not change the version number of HP SIM, but the HP SIM About Box does report their presence. This kit installs the appropriate hotfixes for the SIM version installed. It includes the following types of fixes:
- Performance enhancements for installations with tens of thousands of events in SIM, or many Automatic Event Handling tasks
- Device discovery and identification fixes
- iLO2 Single Sign-on support (also available separately)
- Updated 'Edit System Properties' page for use with the Remote Support Pack to support more countries (Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc) for 'Country Code'

SSH
|
Allows the HP SIM Distributed Task Facility to securely log-into managed systems to perform a task. HP SIM leverages Secure Shell (SSH) to enable secure execution of OS commands, scripts, batch files, and applications on remote systems running Windows, Linux, or HP-UX. You may optionally install and configure SSH as an agent on managed systems to allow remote script execution from HP SIM. |
| WMIMapper |
Convert WBEM queries into WMI and WMI responses into WBEM. HP SIM uses the WBEM protocol for discovery and data collection from WBEM providers on HP-UX systems. Since Windows systems use WMI, the WMI Mapper is used to convert WBEM queries into WMI and WMI responses into WBEM. The WMI Mapper is automatically installed locally when the CMS is installed on a Windows system. However, an installation of the WMI Mapper is needed on a Windows system when Windows machines are being managed from an HP-UX or Linux version of HP SIM. The WMI Mapper can be installed on a Windows HP SIM server platform or another Windows system on the network. |

The Version Control Repository Manager automatically downloads and catalogues BIOS, driver, and agent updates for ProLiant servers running Windows or Linux operating systems. The VCRM installs on a Windows 2000 or Windows Server 2003 systems. |
ProLiant Support Packs
|
ProLiant Support Pack (PSP) is an advanced software delivery tool that can be distributed via VCRM to a designated server(s) and then silently integrated into the server environment. It interacts with a version control agent during the installation. The PSP can also be copied directly to the managed system and installed from that location. It contains the HP Management Agents and associated drivers for HP ProLiant servers which allows it to be managed by HP SIM. |
