Access basic Lights-Out management out-of-the box

Integrated Lights-Out (iLO) Standard combines basic management functions and diagnostics with essential Lights-Out functionality as standard components of the server. ProLiant customers enjoy iLO Standard features such as remote power control, text-based remote console, server and iLO log and status displays, and alert forwarding. These features give you virtual presence and reduce the need for onsite attention to datacenter or remote servers. And when you are ready for more advanced remote management, iLO Standard is easily upgraded to the iLO Advanced establishing highest levels of virtual administration and control over your ProLiant servers.

Maximize server availability

iLO Standard allows administrators to maintain high-quality service levels with full system access and control of remote systems 24×7×365. With auxiliary power and dedicated network connectivity, continuous remote control of servers is ensured when needed, even if the servers have been turned off. Alerting provides advance notification of server problems and troubleshooting features like event logs, Virtual Power and remote console shorten the time to diagnose and remediate remote server issues, thereby minimizing downtime. Easy access directly from the iLO user interface to Insight Agents resident on the remote server further enhances the effectiveness of administrators.

Activate HP Power Regulator for ProLiant servers

iLO Standard provides an interface to the new HP Power Regulator enabling policy based power management to reduce power and cooling costs on most ProLiant servers. From a command line, browser or script, Power Regulator can be activated to improve server energy efficiency by giving processors full power for applications when they need it and power savings during reduced application activity.

Conserve valuable IT staff resources

iLO Standard allows you to conserve valuable IT staff resources with powerful remote administration and control of ProLiant servers from a standard web-browser. iLO Standard eliminates the need to be physically in front of servers by using Virtual Remote Console to remotely manage servers regardless of operating system or server state. This reduces expensive, time-consuming travel requirements and reduces the need for dedicated IT staff in isolated locations.

Robust security

Security is key focus for HP in delivering remote management solutions. HP offers a robust security implementation for iLO including industry-standard secure socket layer (SSL) web page encryption and secure shell (SSH) command line encryption to ensure proper user authentication. In addition, iLO provides the ability to define up to 12 user accounts with customizable access rights and view user actions in event logs and unauthorized access alerts.

Easy to use

Each iLO management processor is fully accessible from your choice of a standard browser, command line or script and does not require any additional software on the client system. From these interfaces, actions can be executed on one or many servers including controlling the power switch, rebooting, retrieving important blade topology information, and switching on/off the Unit ID LED.

Easy setup and administration

Initial configuration of a single iLO or large deployments of iLO management processors is simplified-- beginning with automatic network configuration. Using Lights-Out Configuration Utilities, an administrator can easily configure user accounts, network and global settings, and activate the ProLiant Essentials iLO Advanced Pack license keys both offline or online. Groups of Integrated Lights-Out processors can be configured or updated simultaneously using a batch process or HP Systems Insight Manager.

Integration with HP Systems Insight Manager

Efficient centralized management and access to iLO is provided through tight integration with other ProLiant management tools such as HP Systems Insight Manager and the ProLiant Essentials Rapid Deployment Pack. HP Systems Insight Manager automatically enables centralized monitoring and access to all activated iLO processors in your environment. Also, iLO integration with the Rapid Deployment Pack allows administrators easy access to server remote consoles to monitor deployment progress.
