Rack And Enclosure Names In The Physical Devices View Do Not Reflect The True Rack And Enclosure Names

Article: 17

Applies to: All releases

The Deployment Server reads the rack, enclosure, and bay information for each blade server from the SMBIOS table, which is configured each time the blade server is booted.

The possible causes are:

If the blade server is booted before the rack and enclosure names are configured, it uses the factory default settings.
If changes are made to the rack and enclosure names, these changes do not take effect until the blade server is rebooted and SMBIOS can be refreshed

After changing the rack and enclosure names, reboot the blade servers. The original rack and enclosure names must be manually deleted from the Physical Devices View in the console.
