How To Add New Firmware Component Versions

Article: 20000018

Applies to: Release 6.x

To add a newer firmware component version to RDP, copy the firmware component scexe file to <InstallPath>\hpfeatures\fw-proLiant\components.

NOTE: Newer firmware components may require an updated version of HP Smart Update Manager (hpsum) utility, or a shared library not available in Linux automation. For example, a new hard drive type not supported by the RDP-provided hpsum version would require a newer hpsum to recognize the new technology. Without the updated utility or library, the firmware components will fail to install. Updating the hpsum utility or adding the library to LinuxPE is not supported.

IMPORTANT: When adding iLO, iLO2, or RILOE II firmware, an older version of the component must remain in the components directory.
