The HP Insight Integration with Microsoft Systems Management Server 2.0 integrates hardware asset collection and software distribution for HP ProLiant servers into an existing SMS 2.0 infrastructure.
This comprehensive solution builds upon the functionality of the Insight Management Agents to complement and extend SMS, and to maximize existing IT investments. Environments that implement SMS as the preferred systems management solution can use the Insight Integration to help streamline administration, to collect in-depth asset data for HP ProLiant hardware, and create more efficient hardware inventory and change management procedures.
A key component of this solution is the Insight Inventory Collector (Collect.exe), which gathers HP-specific data provided by the Insight Management Agents and extends the SMS database through a series of .MIF files. The collated data can be viewed or queried through the SMS user interface, enabling administrators to clearly identify HP hardware and associated operating system inventory, create comprehensive reports, or locate specific components within a networked environment.
The Insight integration also includes predefined Program Definition Files (PDF), enabling centralized distribution of key software components, such as the Insight Management Agents, ProLiant Support Packs, and the Insight Inventory Collector, for HP ProLiant servers.

Revision 7.10 includes the following updates:
- HP Inventory Collector ( Collect.exe) updated to present HP-branded data
- HP developed script "Removecpq.sql" to automatically convert existing Compaq-branded inventory data to HP-branded data
NOTE: The "Removecpq.sql "scripts is also provided to simplify migration to SMS 2003. Compaq-branded data is not supported under Insight Integration for SMS 2003.
