Q1. What is the NC310F?
A1. The NC310F is the newest HP 1000SX single port network adapter that has been designed, developed, and tested to meet the needs of server customers. The NC310F supports the PCI-X v1.0a and PCI v2.3 standards, delivers PCI-X bus-mastering technology, supports the optional Insight software Networking Intelligent Pack, and ships with support for all major network operating systems.

Q2. What's new about the NC310F compared to the earlier NC6770 1000SX PCI-X adapter?
A2. The NC310F utilizes the Intel 82545GM network controller that supports x86 64-bit extensions on the Intel Nocona chipset. The NC310F supports the full line of AMD and Intel processors with x86 64-bit extension technology offered on ProLiant servers.

Q3. Are there any other key differences between the NC310F and the NC6770 network adapters?
A3. Yes. The NC310F utilizes a low profile LC fiber-optic connector; the NC6770 provides an SC fiber-optic connector.

A1. The standard features of the NC310F include:
  • IEEE 802.3z Gigabit Ethernet, 802.3x flow control, 802.1p QoS, 802.1Q VLAN tagging, and 802.3ad link aggregation
  • Insight software Intelligent Networking Pack option
  • High performance features including 64-bit/133MHz PCI-X data path, advanced TCP offload, interrupt coalescence, 9K jumbo frames, and dual address cycles
  • High availability features including PCI Hot Plug and ProLiant Network Adapter Teaming
Q2. Can the NC310F be used in standard 64/66, 64/33, and 32/33 PCI slots?
A2. Yes, a customer's hardware investment is protected by the NC310F being compatible with existing PCI architecture. Performance of the NC310F in PCI slots will be limited to the maximum throughput allowed by conventional PCI slots.

A3. The NC310F is available now and can be ordered directly from HP or via authorized HP reseller.

Q4. Can the NC310F be teamed with other network adapters?
