The NC320T PCI Express Gigabit Server Adapter is a single port Gigabit server adapter for ProLiant servers that ship with PCI Express slots. The NC320T is a serial device. It is a single lane (1x), 100MHz adapter with 40KB onboard memory that provides 10/100/1000Mbps auto-negotiated speed. The NC320T has been designed and validated with ProLiant customer needs in mind. It offers these server features: Wake-on-LAN, PXE support, as well as LED indicators showing link, speed, and activity. Additionally, it supports the following IEEE standards: 802.3-2002, 802.3ab, 802.3ad, and 802.1Q.
Tested and proven to meet demanding ProLiant standards with full software driver support, the NC320T ships with teaming drivers for all major operating systems, teaming utilities, multiple VLAN tagging, a configuration utility, as well as HP integration of NIC software, firmware, and agents with other options and the ProLiant server.

The NC320T is designed for customers who want to use the serial PCI Express I/O slots available on newer ProLiant servers.
Customers who have filled the PCI-X slots with other devices and still require additional networking adapters:
- Need additional ports for network segmentation via the PCI Express slots
- Require additional ports for improved reliability and performance (network fault tolerance and load balancing)
Customers who want to plan for a smooth transition from PCI and PCI-X to PCI Express bus architecture:
- Would like to deploy serial network devices as ProLiant servers gradually transition from parallel to serial bus architecture
- Wish to assess the benefits of PCI Express adapters with regards to lower power and reduced latency
Solving the Customer Problem
The NC320T meets the needs described above because it allows for a transition from parallel to serial bus architecture in situations where the PCI Express slots are the only ones available or where customers wish to avail themselves of an early look at this new serial technology. The NC320T compliance to standard Ethernet specifications makes it an ideal device for both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet environments.

All NC-series adapters running over twisted-pair cabling support Category 5 cabling. Cat 5E is recommended for new cable installations. Cables beyond Category 5E exceed the requirements for the Gigabit Ethernet standard and can be used if desired. |
