Answers

General
Q1. What is the NC325m?
A1. The NC325m is a quad-port Gigabit Ethernet, x4 PCI Express type 1 mezzanine option for HP BladeSystem c-Class servers. The four ports provide the highest port density available for ProLiant BladeSystem servers in a single adapter. The NC325m is ideal for virtualization, security, server consolidation, network segmentation, and other ProLiant server applications requiring maximum throughput and port density. The total aggregate throughput of 4Gbps meets the needs for customers desiring high bandwidth but are not yet ready to move to 10 Gigabit Ethernet.

Q2. What are the standard features of the NC325m?
A2. The standard features of the NC325m include the following:
  • Quad port with each port having a 1000 Mbps transfer rate for an aggregated throughput of up to 4Gbps
  • Designed with server needs in mind and support for:
    • Wake-on-LAN (WOL)
    • PXE support
    • LEDs indicating link and activity
    • IEEE 802.3, 802.3ab, 802.3ad, 802.1Q
    • Advanced server features such as: Network Fault Tolerance, Transmit Load Balancing, and Switch-Assisted Load Balancing
  • Tested and proven to meet ProLiant standards with full software driver support, including:
    • Multiple VLAN tagging
    • Network Configuration Utility (NCU)
    • HP integration of NIC software, firmware, and agents with other options and the ProLiant server
Q3. What operating systems does the NC325m support?
A3. The ProLiant BL server blades support Windows and Linux operating systems. For a complete and up-to-date listing of supported OS's and versions, please visit our OS Support Matrix.

Q4. What management solutions are available for the NC325m?
A4. The NC325m supports the HP ProLiant Essentials, including:
  • SmartStart - an intelligent integration tool that simplifies the process of installing and configuring ProLiant systems.
  • HP Systems Insight Manager - a comprehensive systems management tools designed to provide proactive and industry leading predicative fault and performance management.
Q5. What Service offerings are recommended?
A5. The NC325m is supported with a worldwide limited one year warranty or the warranty of the server it is installed in, whichever is greater.

Technical
Q1. What server mezzanine slots does the NC325m support?
A1. The NC325m is supported on all ProLiant c-Class servers in all mezzanine slots. However, the NC325m must be installed in mezzanine slot 2 of a half-height server blade to provide connectivity on all four ports. If installed in mezzanine slot 1 of a half-height server blade, the NC325m will provide connectivity on 2 of the 4 ports.

Q2. What is the transfer rate of the NC325m?
A2. The transfer rate is 1000 Mbps from the NC325m to the interconnect module bays in the blade enclosure.
