|
| Q3. |
What's new about the NC360T compared to earlier ProLiant server Gigabit NIC products? |
| A3. |
The new features that the NC360T offers that are not included with previous dual port copper Gigabit NIC products are:
- Intel's latest 82571EB PCIe Gigabit controller
- Flexible to order and install - either standard or low profile capability with only 1 sku
- Fully RoHS compliant for the European market
- Supports TCP Checksum and Segmentation (LSO) offloading to reduce CPU utilization
|
|
| Q4. |
Where can I get the NC360T? |
| A4. |
The NC360T is available on its announcement date and can be ordered through any standard channel partner, directly from HP (NA only), by telephone or through the Internet at hp.com.
|
|
| Q5. |
Can the NC360T be teamed with other NC-series Ethernet adapters, either Intel or Broadcom network processor based? |
| A5. |
Yes, the NC360T can be teamed with other NC-series Ethernet adapters. The ProLiant teaming software is common across the NC-series of Ethernet adapters. More information about HP's teaming can be found at these links:

|
| Q2. |
What IEEE standards does the NC360T comply with? |
| A2. |
802.3, 802.3u, 802.3x (flow control), 802.3ab, 802.3ad (link aggregation), 802.1p (QoS), 802.1Q (VLAN tagging)
|
|
| Q3. |
What operating systems does the NC360T support? |
| A3. |
Operating system support for the NC360T includes both 32 bit and 64 bit extensions for the following:
- Windows Server 2003, Windows 2000
- Linux: selected Red Hat and SuSE distributions
- Novell NetWare 6.5 and its future updates
- SCO UnixWare 7.1.3 and 7.1.4
- SCO OpenServer 5.0.7 and 6.0.0
- Solaris 10

|
| Q4. |
The NC360T has less onboard memory than its predecessor, the NC7170, so won't there be a performance impact? |
| A4. |
It's true that the NC7170 had 128KB onboard memory and the NC360T only has 96KB. However, 'more' is not always better because when moving from older PCI-X based NIC to this newer PCIe NIC, there are enough architecture improvements in the PCIe MAC that reduce the need for a larger FIFO buffer space.

|
| Usage |
| Q1. |
What is the theoretical maximum throughput of the NC360T? |
| A1. |
Each port on the NC360T is capable of 1000Mbps, giving each port a theoretical maximum throughput of 1066 Megabytes per second.
|
|
| Q2. |
Can the NC360T be used in standard 64/66, 64/33, and 32/33 PCI and PCI-X slots? |
| A2. |
No.
|
|
| Health and management |
| Q1. |
What management solutions are available for the NC360T? |
| A1. |
The NC360T supports the HP ProLiant Essentials, including:
- SmartStart - intelligent integration tool that simplifies the process of installing and configuring ProLiant systems.
- HP Systems Insight Manager - comprehensive systems management tools designed to provide proactive and industry leading predicative fault and performance management.
- Intelligent Network Pack - optional software package allowing ProLiant servers to intelligently change the network path to achieve maximum reliability and performance and also reduce virus threats before they spread to the entire network.
It also is supported by the Network Configuration Utility (NCU) that allows it to work in multi-vendor, heterogeneous network teams.
