The HP NC370T PCI-X Multifunction Gigabit server adapter is the industry's first cost-effective networking adapter to support accelerated iSCSI for both Windows and Linux for a twisted-pair networking environment. The NC370T also supports TOE (TCP/IP Offload Engine) for Windows Only and RDMA (Remote Direct Memory Access). Customers deploying the NC370T can expect improved network communications, lowered server CPU utilization, and a simplified IT infrastructure.

Because the NC370T is one card running over one cable supporting multiple functions it can assume any defined networking connection role. These include functioning as an iSCSI device, a TOE NIC, and as an RDMA device.
- Performance Networking: As a TOE device for Windows Only, the NC370T shifts processing of the communications protocol stack (TCP/IP) from the server CPU to the NIC, thereby freeing CPU cycles for other work
- Simplifying the IT Infrastructure: As an iSCSI HBA, the NC370T combines two well-known technologies, SCSI and Ethernet, to give ProLiant servers ready access to storages boxes over the same wire used for networking. This flexibility leads to a simplified infrastructure and reduced costs
- RDMA: As a high-speed, low latency network adapter, the NC370T provides the fastest communication between two RDMA-capable systems by moving data from the memory of one computer directly into the memory of another with minimal CPU and memory overhead

Ideal for...
Resource-constrained customers wanting greater server efficiencies
- The NC370T increases the efficient use of TCP offload resources, making sure that the connections dynamically move between host and NIC depending upon workload
- With TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) for Windows Only, the NC370T reduces the CPU cycles required to process incoming network traffic by 50% in Windows environments
- By using Receive Side Scaling in multiple CPU systems, network traffic is no longer bottlenecked because the NC370T supports dynamic load balancing of incoming traffic across CPUs
Corporate data centers looking to simplify their operations
- When the NC370T is deployed as an iSCSI initiator, it functions as an HBA with accelerated performance for access to individual storage devices and SANs
- The flexibility of the NC370T enables IT staffs to simplify their management operations by having a single I/O device provide both networking and storage needs
- By providing unified networking and storage connections, the NC370T enables the deployment of a single fabric environment
Enterprise customers requiring the highest in performance networking
- Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA) functionality is a high speed, low latency protocol supported as an add-on capability to the NC370T for direct memory to memory transfer of data
- Applications currently constrained by memory, CPU, or networking throughput will gain the most from RDMA-enabled NC370T because it makes application scaling a reality
- Clustered servers will benefit from the optimized performance of RDMA when the NC370T is used as a cluster interconnect
