Answers

General
Q1. Why is the NC382m called a "multifunction" network adapter?
A1. The NC382m offers accelerated networking, storage networking and clustering in a single, all-in-one device, in much the same way that multifunction printers offer printing, scanning and copying in a single, all-in-one device. The NC382m is a single card operating over one connection and providing multiple functions.
Q2. What BladeSystem servers does the NC383m support?
A2. All ProLiant c-Class BladeSystem servers in all mezzanine slots. Multiple adapters can be installed per server.
Q3. Does the NC382m require special switches?
A3. No, the NC382m can be used with any BladeSystem interconnect module with Gigabit Ethernet downlinks or the Pass Thru module connected to an external switch that meets IEEE 802 Ethernet standards.
Q4. What is the warranty of the NC382m?
A4. The NC382m is supported with a worldwide limited one year warranty or the warranty of the server it is installed in, whichever is greater.

Technical
Q1. What is TOE?
A1. TOE stands for TCP/IP Offload Engine. TOE moves the processing of data in the TCP protocol stacks from the server CPU to the NIC, freeing CPU cycles for other work. TOE is currently supported for Windows.

Q2. What is iSCSI?
A2. iSCSI is block storage access over TCP/IP. The NC373m supports accelerated iSCSI by combining the iSCSI driver with the adapter's TOE capability.
