The NC522SFP is an eight lane (x8) adapter, which can be used in x4 or x8 PCI Express slots; however, x8 slots will provide the optimal performance. The adapter automatically autosenses between x4 and x8 slots. PCI Express x1 slots are not supported.

The NC522SFP ships with two SFP+ (Small Form Factor Pluggable) cages, which can be configured for attaching the adapter to copper or fiber optic networks.

What is Direct Attach Cable (DAC)? |

Direct Attach Cable (DAC) is used to connect the NC522SFP to copper networks. The cable includes a connector that plugs into the SFP+ cage. Direct Attach Cable is available from HP in lenghts up to seven (7) meters.

What are SR, LR, and LRM fiber optic modules? |

SR, LR, and LRM fiber optic modules are used to connect the NC522SFP to fiber optic networks. SR (Short Range), LR (Long Range), and LRM (Long Reach Multi-mode) modules are available from HP, as are fiber-optic cables.
