The NC524SFP module, which is an option unique to the DL370 G6 and ML370 G6 ProLiant servers, upgrades two of the integrated 1GbE ports to 10GbE ports. Only one NC524SFP is supported in each system. This dual port module supports SFP+ (Small Form-factor Pluggable) connectors, requiring either Direct Attach Cable (DAC) for copper environments, or fiber transceivers supporting SR, LR, or LRM optics plus fiber cables for fiber optic environments.
The NC524SFP offers advanced server features that ProLiant customers have come to expect, such as support for TCP checksum and segmentation (LSO) offload capability, VLAN tagging, jumbo frames, IPv6, and more.

With two 10GbE ports, the NC524SFP is a cost-effective upgrade to 10GbE networking for
ML/ML370 G6 customers who demand the highest throughput of any ProLiant server adapter. The SFP+ connector cages enable ProLiant customers to deploy the NC524SFP in either copper or fiber optic enviornments.
- The two ports on the NC524SFP have a theoretical maximum of 40Gbps full-duplex, bi-directional throughput
.
- Using Direct Attach Cable (DAC), available separately from HP, the NC524SFP runs on copper cable
.
- Fiber optic modules and cables, available separately from HP, allow the NC524SFP to connect to SR, LR, and LRM environments

Ideal for...
The NC524SFP module is ideal for DL370 G6 and ML370 G6 customers who require a cost-effective upgrade to 10GbE in networking bandwidth for any of the following reasons:
- The best combination of high speed and low latency for virtualization and clustering
- Future-proofing their infrastructure for increased demands
- Flexibility as to the media type for future installations
DL370 G6 and ML370 G6 customers anticipating increased demands on this platform while looking to lower costs
- Cable reduction by using a larger 10GbE "pipe" in their infrastructure
- mproved bandwidth required by virtualizing more and more servers
