Answers

General

Q1. How does Moab ACS enable an infrastructure to respond to dynamic workloads?
A1. HP Moab ACS  is an intelligent allocation engine that aligns resources based on customer-defined policies and service level agreements, and interfaces to infrastructure workflow systems and provisioning tools (such as those in the HP BSA portfolio) to modify the resources to best meet the policies. Automated and fast, the product is ideal for real-time infrastructures with shifting or scheduled peak demands.
Q2. What challenges are addressed by Moab ACS?
A2. Mismatch of static resources with dynamic workloads causing underutilization of resources; IT staff errors and delays while managing and provisioning systems; weakened revenue and productivity due to slow response times; scalability and growth; support for heterogeneous hardware and operating systems; and delivering response and resources suitable for “Infrastructure as a Service”
Q3. What types of environments can benefit from Moab ACS?
A3. Moab ACS enables real time infrastructures for markets such as FSI, Hosting, and ecommerce; deploying Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS); and global organizations consolidating its data centers.
Q4. On what platforms is Moab ACS supported?
A4. Moab ACS supports heterogeneous environments, interfacing with most monitoring tools, standard management protocols, resource managers and provisioning tools. HP Moab supports AMD Opteron and Intel Xeon architectures, and many others. See the Quickspecs for more detail. Of course, HP Moab is supported and qualified across the HP ProLiant line.
Q5. What operating environment is required for Moab ACS?
A5. Moab ACS is supported on Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5 and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, and can manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server and Windows Server 2008 environments.
Q6. How scalable is Moab ACS?
A6.

Moab ACS can scale from 100s to 10,000s of managed servers.

Q7. How is Moab ACS licensed?
A7.

Moab ACS is licensed per socket. All managed servers require licensing of their sockets.
