What is the difference between the HP ProLiant BL460c Blade Server and the HP ProLiant BL20p G4? |
| A2. |
The differences between the ProLiant BL460c and the new B20P G4 are:
- Density - The BL460c is a half-height blade versus a full-height blade and offers all the same feature sets plus more. The BL460c takes up one-half of a slot within the new c-7000 enclosure. The BL20p G4 continues to take up 1 full slot within the p-class enclosure.
- Design of Blade - The BL460c does not include fans. The fans have been removed to provide space for other components within the blade. Also, to ensure maximum cooling optimization, the fans reside within the c-Class 7000 enclosure.
- Enclosure - The BL460c blade is compatible and to be used only with the new c-7000 blade enclosure. The new c-class blades are not compatible with the p-class blade enclosure.
