Overview |
The SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) interface is the workhorse of the computing industry. Over the years the interface has evolved to keep pace with system requirements. The data path has been widened and transfer speeds have been increased.
SCSI has evolved continuously through the years. As SCSI technology evolved, it moved from single-ended (SE) signaling to differential signaling (high voltage differential) which provides for faster speeds, longer cables lengths, improved noise immunity and on to Low Voltage Differential (LVD). LVD fulfills the need for speed and does so with seamless backward and forward compatibility. The robust LVD design significantly enhances SCSI I/O performance, power consumption, data integrity, and device connectivity. Multimode cables can operate in either low voltage differential, high voltage differential (HVD) or single-ended (SE) modes of operation.
