Q1. How is the new HP R1500 XR UPS different from the legacy product?
A1. The HP R1500 XR UPS is an enhancement of the legacy R1500 ("XR" signifies that this UPS is supported by an Extended Runtime Module). The R1500 XR UPS offers many feature enhancements:
  • new HP design Rated at 1340W (vs 960W for the legacy product)
  • increased system uptime with support for Extended Runtime Modules
  • one-button configuration via enhanced front panel display
  • ease of service through modular design and hot swappable battery
  • enhanced UPS communication with new option cards (SNMP/Serial Port Card and Six Port Card).

A2. The HP R1500 XR UPS has one option card slot.

A6. The HP UPS utilizes a line interactive plus topology which features sine wave output and superior input/output voltage regulation. This technology is inherently reliable and highly efficient. The HP UPS can correct input voltage variations as low as -35 percent of nominal voltage without transferring to the battery. This will ensure the battery is preserved and ready for the next power anomaly.
 
Q7. Does the HP R1500 XR UPS provide protection for communications equipment?
A7. Yes, the HP R1500 XR UPS provides surge protection for communication equipment such as network devices, a fax machine or a modem via the Network Transient Protector.
 
Q8. Does the UPS have a transformer?
A8. Yes. Its function is to provide buck and boost regulation as well as provide isolation between the battery and the output.
 
Q9. Can I change the line cord that is provided with the UPS?
A9. We strongly recommend that you do not remove or change the line cords provided with the UPS.
 
Q10. What should I do if I need to increase UPS runtime?
A10. The UPS R1500 XR supports up to two Extended Runtime Modules that increase UPS runtime to up to 30 minutes.
