  ideal environment

Users of (non-rack optimized) servers (ProLiant ML servers), storage, workstations, and other computer equipment, as well as networking equipment like hubs and routers.

Problems and Requirements

Customers wanting to protect their servers and computer equipment and data from damage due to bad power. And customers also need to continue working during sudden brief power outages.
  • Need to protect servers and expensive IT equipment against damage due to power fluctuations, surges, and spikes
  • Data protection
  • Preventing downtime due to sudden short power outages

Customer Problem

Customers typically invest in expensive mission critical IT equipment, but should there be a sudden power outage or utility load shedding, their systems would have to go down. Or even a transient voltage fluctuation, surge or spike, may cause damage to their equipment or data.
  • "Surges and Spikes remain the most commonly experienced power quality problems. It is estimated that the overall impact of power-related problems can cost US companies more than $26B per year." -- Source: Frost & Sullivan
  • "The current electrical system was not ever designed for the Internet economy. Anything chip related is a tremendous Achilles' heel." -- Source: VP, Electric Power Research Institute

Solving the Customer Problem

  • HP UPSs provide power protection for your computer equipment (and IT investment) against damage due to fluctuating and inconsistent power.
  • Protect your critical data against bad power.
  • Additional back-up time allows you to continue working during sudden brief events of power outages.
  • Automatically save your data, close applications, and stage a systematic shutdown during an extended power outage. HP UPSs also allow customers to perform prioritized shut down or remote shut down of applications and connected equipment if required.
  • Increase your return on investment by proactively providing power protection to your data and equipment.
