Answers

What's new
Q1. What models are available in the tower UPS G2 category?
A1. The new tower UPS G2 models include the UPS T1000 G2, the T1500 G2, and the R/T 2200 G2. These UPSs are designed to provide maximum protection for workgroup, departmental, and enterprise server platforms.

Q2. How are these UPSs different from their legacy equivalent UPSs?
A2. All G2 models support USB connectivity. In addition the R/T 2200 G2 is in a rack to tower convertible model with ERM support.

Q3. What UPS technology is available with these UPSs?
A3. The G2 UPSs utilize line-interactive topology. The line-interactive UPSs are cost-effective and efficient because they support the entire critical load only during power disturbances.

Q4. What is the purpose of the Extended Runtime Module (ERM) on the R/T2200 G2?
A4. The Extended Runtime Module provides additional runtime capacity for the R/T2200 G2 UPS. The model can be stacked on top of the ERM as one complete unit. Please refer to the product QuickSpecs for more details on the back-up times.

Q5. Do the new tower UPSs have a transformer?
A5. Yes. Its function is to provide buck and boost regulation as well as provide isolation between the battery and the output. Buck and Boost Voltage Regulation ensures consistent input voltage to the load by automatically "bucking" if it is too high, or "boosting" if it is too low. Voltage variations as low as -35 percent or as high as +20 percent are corrected without transferring to battery. This reduces the number of charge/recharge cycles, thereby prolonging the life of the battery.

General
Q1. How many load segments do the tower UPS XR models have?
A1. The UPS T1000 G2 and the HP T1500 G2 models have 1 load segment, while the UPS R/T 2200 G2 has 4 load segments. Load segments are groups of outlets that can be pre-configured in order of priority.
