General
Q1. What servers, storage, and options can I mount on the new HP 10000 Series G2 rack?
A1. The new 10000 Series G2 rack is the universal rack for all of HP. All HP servers and storage platforms can be mounted in the 10000 G2 Series rack including HP ProLiant, Integrity, HP BladeSystem, NonStop, StorageWorks MSA, EVA and XP.

Q2. Will all the 10000 Series G1 accessories be compatible with the G2 rack?
A2. Most of the options are compatible however there are some items that are specific to each rack generation. View options compatible with your rack.


Q3. What are the new rack offerings?
A3. The 10000 G2 Series rack offering has been expanded to include the following rack heights: 22U, 36U, 42U, 42U Wide and 47. In addition, each rack comes in standard and shock pallet (except 10647 which does not allow for CTO). The 14U rack, will remain with it's current design I and will continue to ship with a shock pallet.

Q4. Is there an Options Catalog for the 10K G2 rack?
A4. Yes, there is an options catalog detailing all the rack options available for the 10000 Series G2 rack.

Certifications
Q1. Are the G2 racks UL compliant? WEEE Compliant? Any other certification?
A1. As a cabinet with no electrical components, neither the 10K G1 nor the G2 have any certification from any public or private organization. The 10000 G2 racks are both RoSH and WEEE compliant.

Q2. What spec are the 10K G2 racks built to?
A2. HP 10000 Series G2 racks conform to EIA-RS310-D Type A cabinet per Section 4.1.1 of the EIA Standard published September 1992.

Q3. Is the IATA labeling required for this G2 rack?
A3. Yes, all air shipments require a dangerous goods form to be filled out, for more information refer to the 10000 Series Best Practices.

Technology
Q1. What rack sizes will be available for the G2 racks?
A1. 22U, 36U, 42U, 42U Wide, 47U are available as G2 racks. The 14U racks is also available with it's current design.

Q2. Are the new 10000 Series G2 rack CTO capable?
A2. Yes, just like the G1 models, the G2 racks will be available on shock pallets for CTO configurations and Factory Express builds. The maximum load remains at 2000 lbs for both static and dynamic loads.

Q3. Are the 0U products supported in G2?
A3. Yes, there will be no difference in how PDUs or switches are deployed in the 0U side sections of the rack.

Q4. Does the new door affect the cooling performance of the rack?
A4. No, the new door retains the 65 percent front-to-back airflow to provide sufficient cool air to the equipment mounted on the rack.

What's new
Q1. What are the main differences between the 10000 Series G1 and G2 racks?
A1. There are many improvements that were made from the G1 to the G2 versions, the most important changes are:
  • Universal rack for all of HP rackmount products, including ProLiant, Integrity, NonStop and StorageWorks products
  • Improved and updated door design with bright-aluminum finish
  • Improved front and rear door handles and latches
  • Easier to handle side panels are now in 3 sections instead of a single heavy section
  • Improved cable management with cable brackets and clips
  • Improved shock pallet construction and ramp for CTO racks
  • Redesigned stabilization feet for improved installation process
Q2. How does the G2 differ from the Rack System /E?
A2. The HP System E rack is a 41U rack used in racking primarily Integrity servers. This rack will End of Life in February of 2007.

Q3. Can the G2 be bayed to a Rack System/E?
A3. No, the 10000 G2 Series cannot be bayed to the System /E rack.

Q4. Is the G2 replacing the Rack System/E? Can I still order it?
A4. Yes, the 10000 G2 Series is replacing the System /E rack. The System /E rack will be available until early 2007.
