HP integrated Citrix XenServer combines the performance, security, and openness of the XenServer product line with easy-to-use HP ProLiant Virtual Console to
simplify virtual deployments. Designed for new users of virtualization technology, HP ProLiant Virtual Console (PVC) provides a simple to use GUI interface for single server virtual machine management, without the need for a separate management server or even a network. PVC comes standard with all HP integrated Citrix XenServer options, allowing local virtual machine creation and management using the server's KVM keyboard/video/mouse (KVM). The virtual machine creation and management experience is greatly enhanced with the HP iLO2 Advanced Pack (sold separately), which provides a number of powerful features, including remote access of virtual machine consoles, as well as virtual media capabilities.

HP integrated Citrix XenServer
- Purchase your preferred integrated Citrix XenServer option kit from HP. You will receive a USB key with the HP XenServer image pre-installed on the key. Insert the key into the internal USB port of your new or existing supported ProLiant server (see server hood label for location of internal USB port). Boot the server as usual, and XenServer and HP Systems Insight Manager agentsare automatically loaded into memory. The ProLiant Virtual Console wizard guides you through initial host and virtual machine configuration.
HP ProLiant Virtual Console
HP ProLiant Virtual Console removes complexity from virtualization installations by offering single server virtual machine management, using the server’s KVM or optional iLO 2 Advanced Pack. HP PVC offers:
- A first time wizard based setup that guides you through initial installation and configuration of host and virtual machines in just minutes.
- GUI-based interface that provides ongoing virtual machine monitoring and management.
- A multi-screen view of virtual machine consoles installed on the server eases the management process by allowing you to view multiple virtual machine consoles at once.
- Performance monitoring lets you track both system level resources as well as resources being used by each virtual machine.
- HP iLO 2 Advanced Pack (sold separately) allows you to remotely access both the physical host console as well as the virtual machine consoles installed on the server for optimum management flexibility. Use iLO2 virtual media capabilities to deploy guest OS’s to the local virtual machines.

- HP Select Edition packs a punch with power and price. The HP Select Edition offers a low cost, all-in-one solution with integrated Citrix XenServer and HP ProLiant Virtual Console for single server management. Licensed by server rather than by socket, HP Select Edition allows creation of an unlimited number of virtual machines per server, with up to 32 GB memory per virtual machine.
- HP Enterprise Edition of Citrix XenServer enables resource pooling and live migration. Includes ProLiant Virtual Console for single server management and XenCenter for virtual machine management across multiple servers. Also licensed by server.
- As your virtual environment grows, you can easily upgrade HP Select Edition to HP Enterprise Edition at a later date. Add the new license key to your server, then add additional virtualization servers and remote storage to the virtualized environment. No costly management or licensing servers are needed.
- HP bundles 1-year 9x5 unlimited support and subscription services with Citrix XenServer HP Enterprise Edition. Support and subscription services are optional with Citrix XenServer HP Select Edition.
