The workload management capability for HP Integrity servers is provided by the HP Global Workload Manager component of
the Matrix Operating Environment for HP-UX. HP Global Workload Manager (gWLM), is an intelligent policy engine that automatically allocates resources among multiple workloads to increase server utilization while meeting service levels for high-priority applications. Designed to work across multiple HP-UX 11i, OpenVMS and Linux environments, the workload management features are ideal for large, centralized IT environments that host applications for many departments.
An integrated component of the Matrix Operating Environment for HP-UX, HP Global Workload manager makes it easier, faster, and less expensive to provide additional server resources, when needed. It monitors workloads based on policy goals and automatically migrates CPUs from idle workloads to busy ones, and from lower priority workloads to higher ones to give critical applications the resources they need. Also, it integrates with utility pricing to activate and deactivate additional resources based on real-time requirements.
